brown algae

ive got this brown filamentous algae growing in my tank. I just added a closed lo0p on my tank, so flow is pretty decent.

my rodi filter needed some filter changes, so I just to0k care of that and did 15 gallon water change last week.

I know the ammonia and nitrates were a little high, but I think thats b/c of my old filters.

So, recommendations ... keep doing water changes and manually remove as much as I can? or what?

any help is appreciated

We get this every year in the fall if our filters need to be changed. Our water is well provided and the city adds different chemicals for the winter water supply. After replacing the filters it goes away in a month or so. (we top off with the same filtered water)
