Maxi-jet Modification

I just recieved my two Algae free sure flow 1600 maxi jet modification kits from Marine Depot. It is supposed to change the MJ's to 1600 gph or if you use the larger propellar 2100 GPH. I was skeptical, but when I plugged the MJ in after the kit was in place....WOW! For $14 each plus shipping, there isn't any other way to go. You can even buy the jet with the mod already attached for around thirty bucks if you do not already have a MJ. Tomorrow I will hook up my second MJ and be pushing around 4000 GPH combined in my 90 gallon tank. My fish are already playing in the current. I'm just floored by the results.

I'll hook up my second pump tonight and report out the results. So far the pump worked great overnight with zero noise. The propellar started in the right direction the first time. I hope all goes as well with the second one.

Second kit is hooked up and running. Once again I had zero problems. I couldn't be more happy with the flow and neither could my fish! I used the smaller propellar for the second pump, so I'm pushing 2100 on one and 1600 gph on the other. 3700 gph total.

I was thinking about ordering this kit too. Is the $30 magnetic grip absolutely necessary for the pump after modification?

If you can, please post the tank photo, where the pumps could be seen.
I have a trouble with positioning powerheads, any with strong flow makes a dead zone, where the strong flow is. Looking for ideas for improvement.

I do not have the magnetic clips. I have been running my pumps for about a month now and only once did the suction cup fail and I had to stick it back on the glass wall. only the top suction came lose so it didn't fall down and blow the substrait or anything. I have one on the top right had corner facing forward and one on the left hand corner facing forward. They are probably about a foot from the ends on both sides. I'll try to post a pic. tomorrow. they are still working great though.

I had half-power powerheads (600 gph) positioned in the similar way, only closer to the corners, and stream area was too fast for the corals around. Trying to figure out the better way :) .

Trusting suction cups to hold your powerhead is always risky. Seems like they always fall off after time. I have used the Algae Free magnets and were very happy with them.

I would just invest in the magnetic grip. The PH is much more powerful after the mod and if it falls off your glass who knows what will happen when things get knocked over.
