I have a 4 stage RO/DI filter, and I have decided to do some maintance, and flush the membrane.

The RO Membrane, has three lines connected to it. 1 Yellow line from the prefilters, 1 Red line they discharges the waste water, and 1 Blue line that leads to the DI canister.

The directions for flushing the membrane say to switch the red and blue lines, and run water for 15 minutes. As I look at this, It appears all this would do, is dump a bunch of waste water into my DI filter, which does not seem right.

Does this seem like a misprint to anyone else? I would think to actually 'flush' the membrane I would need to switch the yellow line from the prefilter, with the blue line for the pure water.

Any thoughts?

Perhaps the directions are for a system w/out the DI. I know a had to add my ID after the fact. Can you just disconnect the DI cannister and flush? If not and your TDS readings are rising then maybe just replace it???

Just thoughts...

Backflushing a membrane isn't needed if the purifier is used daily
