:)
Im soon going to begin building a stand for a 125 gallon long (72x18.5x22)aquarium and would like to build it from steel tubing. Im also looking to have it powdercoated "maybe" lol ..so it will stay nice for many years of exposure to a saltwater environment. This will be setup as a peninsula tank
Here are some specs that may influence the design:
- Tank is 72x18.5x22
- Stand height is to be 32" tall
- Some other things I havent thought about yet
- It will be made with 1 1/2" tubing
so I finally got a chance to play around with Google SketchUp and here's what I came up with
http://i33.tinypic.com/2ik31ci.jpg
http://i35.tinypic.com/mts3k.jpg
I will have build it into two sections due to its size
It will be thread inserts(the brass circles on the outer edge) on the top to hold the plywood on top of the stand.
that it for right now bk to work;)

Good Stuff. Any particular reason you are going with Steel rather than a wood stand?

ty guys
I decided on steel stand because.. I liked the clean, stable look of them and the easier access to equipment.

On that sump you drew up, remove the three baffles before the exiting bulkhead. You do not need them, and they will only cause trouble if used. The return section is that area between the refugium and the triple baffles, and the alley/channel leading to the bulkhead.

Man, I think you spent more time creating that CAD that I did designing my system ;) JK. Looks like a great setup.
BTW, i had a panworld pump for a basement sump setup; worked great; noisy though.

wat size bulkheads ...do u think will be good for this tank
		it's a 125g leemar tank
I have a 270 with 2 1.5 inch down tubes (I only use one of them) and a 1" for water changes in hte overflow. Are you running power heads or a closed loop?

i will be doing a cl bro
o yea:D:D:D:D:D:D
I have 2 1.5 inch intakes with large strainers (spa strainers) and 7 1" inlets on my 270 gallon. I think that the closed loop is the best way to go. It gets the cutter out of the tank. I am running a Sequence Blackfin and a Sequence Barracuda on my tank.

I would use 1.5" bulks for your drain, 1" or 3/4" for return, and 1.5" for your CL intakes and outlets, or 1" outlets depending how many, location, etc.
