Well on to a few details.
Tank turns 5 weeks old today!!

60 gallon cube 25x25x25 by Great Lakes Aquarium Warehouse with custom fug. Four compartment with a 9 gallon ATO built in.

40 pounds Marco Premium Fiji Dry Rock
25 pounds Pompeii Live Rock
60 pounds Live sand in DT
20 DSB Fine Sugar Sand in fug.--NOT ANYMORE!!

15 Gallon QT powered by simple HOB filter, size appropriate heater, and an old 135 watt PC light fixture.
15 Gallon grow out slash frag tank (so to be a 35 cube!)VT mp10, 15 gallon sump, ASM MiniG Moded Impeller, IceCap 660 2x24 soon 4x24. Return is QO1200.--Upgrade to 25x25x12 rimless complete!!

DT:
Lighting: Aquatinics TX5HO 5x24
Skimmer: Aqua Euro Classic 55--soon to be replaced--Replaced 12/9 with SWC MSX 169 w/ Sicce Pump
Return:QO4000

Okay thought I'd share a little. Here is the nerve system of this beast. Running the RKL w/PC4 powering lights and heater. iTemp as well. Also the Vortech mp20, battery back up not show. ATO mounted oppisite side. MLC hidden under PC4 and soon to mount SL2 unit. I currently have a Aqua Euro Classic 55. I am going to mesh mod it this week, because I find it performace a little lacking. And due to poor design on my part, not leaving room for expansion, I am very limited as to upgrades for the skimmer. I have recently purchased the ASM Mini-G to either run with the ER55 or replace it.
Future plans to upgrade fug area: add rubble to area under skimmer table. Make new clear acrylic drip tray and filter box to allow more light to macro. Finish wiring once SL2 is mounted (plan is to not see a single wire) and suspend passive charcoal media bag.

It really is.
I received my SL2 for the RKLite pH probe, salinity probe, two SEIO 620's (one for grow out, one for make up water), a 4" fan for the fug area and a ASM Mini G.

Today I am very anxious and anticipating the arrival of my pair of picasso clowns from Doni's Reef today. WOOP WOOP

I will for sure up date pics later!!

Thanks Adam, it is one of my favorites and the second Ive owned.
Ceriantharia, common name Tube Anemone. By far the most interesting animal to watch feed ever. Its amazing to feed things like cyclopeeze. And watch each individual tenticle grab a piece and put it into its mouth and then stretch out for more. Kinda creepy to handle, but totally awesome.

Really excited about ordering my new frag tank today. Should be ready in about a week or so. Should have known from the beginning that a 15 gallon breeder wouldn't be big enough.

I ordered a rimless, w/ built in overflow w/ Durso, black silicone tank. Same foot print as my DT but only 12 inches high.

Also added a new Maxima Clam to QT and 15 ricordea florida to frag tank, along with three new zoo morphs and a rediculous Tonga mush colony.

Hoping to curve your cravings for pics tonight after the kiddies are in bed!

Wow you guys just realized how much this build thread sucks. Sorry, I will post tonight with some heavy pics hopefully.
In the mean time here are some pics of the go go gadget door latch to keep the kiddies out. I really wanted to make the door as clean looking as possible. Avoiding lock barrels, handles and so on. If you thinking of getting on yourself be sure to grab yourself an extra key in case you accidently close the cabinet with the key inside!

Heres another picture of the unfinished upgrade to the drip column. I has since included a 200 micron filter sock and a custom (by me black acrylic light blocker) I really like how crystal clear my water is in the frag tank so I wanted to incorporate that in the DT. Basically what I did is recycle an old HOB overflow. Sealed one of the 1" bulkhead holes so water only drains in to the skimmer section of the fug. And hung it over the top of water wall.

Finally transfered over the 15 gallon frag tank to this larger 32.5 gallon to be exact, cubish grow out tank.
Stuck with the KISS method on this one as you can see. Just slide the old stand around the corner with the sump, skimmer and return. Now its the saw table! I then just plumbed the sump in nice and easy. A few unions for easy cleaning and a junction with ball for easy water changes. Under the tank will be a DIY H2O top off with a pump and two float switches off eBay.
Yes the lights are crooked, thought I had extra pocket door track to mount to, but could not find it. Im planning on a stop yet again at Lowe's tomorrow. Its so nice to have it like 8 blocks away!

The new frag tank looks great. I'm jealous. My only suggestion would be adding sides and/or reflectors to the light fixture. More light for the frags and less everywhere else. How about a FTS of the DT so we can see what it looks like w/o the frags?

I would swap them daily. I just wash mine in the washing machine. I run the rinse cycle with the machine empty prior to putting the socks in. I don't add any soap or detergent. Some people use bleach but that scares me.
for my 110g, I have to replace my Large filter sock at least every week... I bought 6 of them so when 5 are dirty, I can throw them in the machine, along with the white towels I use when tinkering with the tank.. kinda a waist to do 2 or 3 only for a load... I also use 1 capful of Clorox, although I run the washer twice... first load is with bleace, extra rinse.. then another load, extra rinse... and let the clean ones air dry until needed.... :)

Hey Rob. Kudos on how far the tank has come since I last checked in. You have amassed quite the collection. You'll have to post a list of inhabitants sometime soon as it's hard to tell what all is in there.

That frag tank is awesome....where did you pick it up from?

Let me know if/when you decide to sell some frags. Looks like you have plenty in there that would look great in my tank :)

I picked up the frag tank from the best tank builders I know, Great Lakes Aquarium Warehouse. It is supposed to be the first rimless they've done and it is awesome.

I should have some decent updates with pics here in the next day or two, make sure to check back in and see whats going on! I'll try and work on the list too.

They are slowly recovering. I still have no idea what was going on, but the spawn is bouncing back in the DT slowly but surely. It does appear that all 7 or 8 heads are or were splitting. The largest head is splitting into 4s all at once.
The hammer I put into the grow out tank, and is slowly coming back as well. It's coloring back up and getting fat again.

I finally got by to see Rob's tank in person and it was well worth the trip! The pics are awesome but they can never do the real thing any justice. Very nice clean setup. Great fish and coral choices. First class Rob.:thumbsup:

I think its actually starting to encrust down the epoxy I used to mount it to the reef. Your pieces were to beautiful to stick in the grow out tank!! As for the RKL I love it, just with I had the .NET module to I could get emails when the power is out.

Thanks Todd, it is Superfreaky. It's actually starting to develop some new colors since I picked it up! Like some blues and purples! One of my favorites, but still can't stand up next to the Cherry Garcia!!!

Thought that I would add a few notes.....6 weeks ago I added a BRS reactor to run GFO and carbon to hopefully combat a mild algae issue that it frankly driving me nuts.
This past Saturday after a few months of dosing Prodibio Biodigest and Bioptim I have stopped and started dosing MB7. My Nitrates have been 30ppm for months with out much relief through weekly 15 gallon water changes. I dramatically cut down on my feedings, started changing my socks every two days rather than three. I also changed my PW on my skimmer and added a reducer mod to hopefully help with efficiency there.....time will tell.
Thinking of adding some NP biopellets soon as well. On the hunt for a hot pink, red, or orange digi mini colony, so if you have one hit me up for a trade or something!!!

Well its been a while......this is what I've been up to. Upgraded the "Mad Lab"

With a little help from PeteyPablo I mean Bella127.
After that then I finally built my little reactor board thingymajig. Tight fight in the corner between the tank and entertainment center and the sub box. Cut a little hole in the side of the stand and fished everything through that.
Got my 2 BRS doser, my TLF reactor tumbling my Warner Marine EcoBak Pellets and my BRS reactor rocking some GAC. Down low out of the picture is my VT battery back up and a 2 liter of Calcium and Alk.

Well it's with a heavy heart that I decide I am throwing in the towel on this tank.

I can't seem for the life of me to reduce my nitrates and phosphate levels in this tank. I've tried the Prodibio diet, MB7/Vodka and yes although only for 8 weeks (maybe less) biopellets.

THERE IS something in this tank fueling the phosphates and I must find it. I have non stop growth of HA, byropsis comes and goes, red turf, green cyno etc. The only thing I can think, and is the current plan, is to completely remove every coral and piece of rock. There are a couple rocks that are problematic in particular, so they will not be making it back in.

I plan to go back to what I know and add a moderate depth sand bed in the DT, and utilize a more simple banzai inspired reef scape optimizing and improving flow in this PIA cube.

I plan to cut and replace all baffels in the sump. Doing so I will revert to the original sump design and have the skimmer in the 1st chamber, a DSB with chaetomorpha in the 2nd chamber and RP in 3rd.

Automation will be minimized down to only lighting and heat. BRS dosers will be sold, yup, going back to hand dosing daily.

As for corals, I hope to keep my prized "collector" pieces, acans, ricordeas, rhizo, wellso, lobo and maybe...maybe 2 or 3 millies. Bye bye acros! I'll be removing most all fish and starting over with very few.

Shoot even hope to update lighting, but we will see. LED....AI.....PAR38x2....just me dreaming sorry.

Soo sinara for Round 1 at this tank.......I had huge expectations for you but things have got to change. This needs to be fun again.

Sorry to hear about your luck though....happens to the best of us! Sounds like there is definitly an underlying issue in your tank. Hope you can find it. I am confidant you will.

Round 2 phase 1, new bulbs just arrived!! Yanking skimmer for thorough cleaning. Good thing too cause she's making some weird noises today.
Thinking of scaping later today once my sons home from school to help me. Not sure that Im gonna do a complete tear down though, we'll see how it goes. May have to hold off till swap day!

Of course your welcomed and missed here rob..... as far as the goin to the ex gf's for dinner.... Ive done that to pick up her sister, not as bad at ya'd think and desert was pretty darn good too ;)
