Thanks, I am running 3 250 watt XM 20k halides on magnetic ballasts with 2 t5 supplements. I run a Geo 618 calcium reactor, a Reef Fanatic ATO, 2 Mag 7 returns, 2 modded Mj1200s and a modded K4 for flow. I have 2 media reactors one with zeolites and one with carbon. I am running NeoZeo probiotics and I replace all evaporation with kalk.

Very nice, I believe I was at your place right before you did this upgrade. At any rate....I like it.

Thanks Chuck! Yes, you were here when I was selling off corals to fund the upgrade.:) It's starting to hit its stride now. Growth is slow until the SPS get a few branches on them. Every coral in the tank started from small frags. It should really look good this time next year.:)

Nice and clean look. I like it. Question is did you clean up just for the Photo op????

schminksbro
09-23-2009, 08:38 PM
Thanks, That is kind of you to say. I try to maintain the tank as clean as possible all the time. The glass gets cleaned every day on the front and sides. The back gets done weekly. At any given time you could stop by my house and the tank will look about the same.

Good for you. Mine looks nice and clean when I clean up my office where I keep it. My prob is I tend to leave my RO barrel out and there is a bucket always setting about with a towel or two. I would like to make so cabinets that I could hide these items in the same room instead of wheeling them to the closet in another room. My tank is always clean. I clean the glass daily as my tang loves to follow around my scraper. It’s the external maintenance Items that seem not find their way home daily.

You can see in my pic some random additives, a turkey baster, a feeding cup, ect.. I have the same problem. Inside the tank is immaculate most of the time though.:)

Some equipment pics. All timers are hard wired digital timers. #1 controls display halides, #2 controls display T5 actinics, #3 controls frag tank halide. All 3 halides are driven by magnetic ballasts and XM 20K bulbs. Everything is protected by GFI.

Geo 618 calcium reactor controlled by a Pinpoint Ph controller. Top off water fully saturated with kalk and dosed via a Reef Fanatic ATO and a Aqualifter.

Yes, indeed. Your set up is a sight to behold, Andy. I really like your frag tank as well - especially your hanging light over it.

09-30-2009, 01:31 PM
Thanks Man, fellow member and friend Christyle made that for me. The light swings back and forth so I can access my frag tank unobstructed. Works very well.:)

Hey Andy, I know you make some killer frag racks. But did you make the frag tank as well?

Sparkling clean tank and that huge Orange Cap looks great as the centerpiece of the tank.

That frag tank is awesome looking as well...coming from move of the nano-side of the hobby, I would love to have a tank like that as my show tank, without the racks of course :)

Thanks Heidi! After growing it out for quite some time and achieving TOTM followed by TOTY it is kind of a bummer that I had to move it. Many colonies got broken and some had to get chopped. It took a few months for the tank to shake out, color up and start growing good again. I am still not super happy with it but it is growing and once it fills in it should look pretty good.

still looks beautiful! :highfive3:
