Actually Rugger the opposite is true. The top of that rock was all WW and the monti has grown over them and smothered them out.

Knock the cobwebs off of this, I'm fixin to do a complete revamp so I'll get this out where I can find it easier..:)
I have started thinning out so drastic measures are near by. This is going to be an SPS dominated tank and the cube will be for the muddier (:)) stuff

Thanks peeps, it looks a lot different now. That is an older pic, it is overgrown and in terrible need of attention. Now that the cube is up and running and I have most things transferred to the cube that I plan on moving, I will start the redestruction. lol I plan on lightening up on the rock, and probably carving up most of the coral and starting over. Thinking real hard about a basement sump too, but that probably won't happen til fall if at all. I will put up a couple pics of it looks like now either tonight or tomorrow...

Comparing the pics you'll notice most of the corals near the sandbed are gone. Good growth of the SPS on top left little light for the LPS and z/p's on the bottom. A few remnants remain but mostly dead skeleton.

My digi's blunting off at the surface and overgrowing the cap.....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/chaz128/SUNSET-1.jpg
The only coral I am already having a hard time thinking about cutting up. It is easily larger than a dinner plate. I think I have broken two small pieces of it off in the 3-4 years. It has been the demise of several of my corals but I just can't get myself to trim it.
No real timeframe for this revamp, but it has officially begun.....

Going to try the rabbit already huh? Matt doing anything good or just eating prepared foods instead of what u got him for lol
I've had my eye on a Bluelined Rabbitfish (Siganus doliatus) for some time. Certainly the tang leaving has made up my mind for me but if he will eat some of my algae and supply the kind of coral food I am expecting it will be fine by me. Going with a stick tank has certainly opened up a lot more variety for fish keeping.....

LOL.....I don't think so, their are a few stragglers around that seem to be slowly disappearing but I was kind of blaming the filefish. He's kind of ninja about it unless it's a nassarius snail, he eats those like popcorn. :) Could be the rabbit tho.

Everything i've read suggests that 3" is enough. As important as the depth is the grain size of which I have "sugar fine" sand through most of the tank. She is picking at the rocks and taking cyclopeeze and mysis shrimp so I am cautiously optimistic about her survival long term.
I am still trying to find a couple more leopards, tho I will not order from LA for them again. When my search is over and they have all acclimated to my tank I will treat with Prazipro, as internal parasites seem to be a real problem for them as well.

Chuck, if you ordered the leopards from LA... they should have a 14 day guarantee I believe... check into it. Although unless u found bodies don't completely rule them out 100% as they are capable of hiding in the sand (don't go searching) for several weeks!
Also, one out of 6 isn't really a bad rate on them..... super poor shippers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they were good shippers I'd already have like 15 LOL. Fine sand is best, depth isn't horribly important, IMO you should be fine. Mine is bare-2 maybe 2.5" depth.
Yeah, I got my money back. They even covered my shipping with the first batch (3 meleagris), 2 of those were DOA and the other didn't last 12 hrs. Not much better luck with this order (3 bipartitus) 1 died in acclimation, another within 12 hrs and the last one is hanging in there.
I know not to poke around for them but I just couldn't help myself, after about 5 days I had to know. I was really expecting the worst. I prodded around real gentle like and she popped out and has been out ever since....lucky I think.
I'll keep looking and I'll check with Andy. I'd like to get at least one more maybe a meleagris and then go with a couple flasher wrasses.
Very beautiful fish Rabid!! Best wishes for you both :)
Thanks Miz.....

Their is movement afoot. I have added 2 MP40's and am working on a LED upgrade. I will be putting together one fixture that will cover half of the tank. The other half will remain MH for comparison. I will try to get PAR readings as well as FTS pictures. Here's an idea of the LED layout......

Looks good, but J/W, why did you opt to go without reds/greens?
I added 3 warm whites which are supposed to supplement that end of the spectrum. If I'm not happy with the color I will add a couple reds and greens. I am hoping between the violet/uv and warm whites (no optics on either of these) I will get enough pop.
The build is moving slowly, between my old eyes and numb thumb my fine motor skills have really taken a beating. :)

So whats the word Chuck, you liking the new LEDs? Lets see some pics :)
No pics....but I did order another LED kit. Tank is a bit of a mess. Shocked some of the sticks between the LED's (Jim warned me) and new Radium bulb (some to death). I used screen on everything but apparently 35% is to much, but the old bulbs were real old. I've started dosing vinegar to help with the HA so I hope to have it turning my way here soon.
The good news is the frag tank is finally empty, save Mandy (dragonette), so I might turn him in and run it without light
and just fill it with rock. I'm thinking about putting him back in the display but with plans for more wrasses and the CBB i'm afraid the competition for food would have him starving in time.

You can't get rid of Mandy!!
Yeah, that would be a tough one. I've had him a long time. Not like Yeller (yellow tang) when I got rid of him, he turned into a bully so he was easy to get rid of. Mandy hasn't done anything....
Thats kinda crazy that 35% was to much even with the screen.... I started mine around 60% if I remember right.... but I also had alot less leds when I did it too.
Part of it is the intensity they came from, the old bulbs were a little over a year old so they weren't doing much, I wouldn't think. Even the new Radium side has suffered with a couple losses.

Update......I've lost a few corals, turns out, after some thought, that the problems I was having with the light set-up and ramping had me running them at full power for some of the time which explains some of the losses. Everything is back on track and I am increasing intensity 5% a week, the corals have lost color but most seem to be adjusting now. I am taking a break on the corals until I get things sorted out so I am focusing on my fish list for a while. With that said I think I can scratch leopard wrasse off the list, it is a little early to say yet but they are out and eating.......
