As most know I have a IceCap 660 retro w/ 2 x24 bulb. I have out grown my 15 gallon frag tank.........already and upgrading to a 24x24x12 frag tank.
Do you guys think adding a third bulb will be okay, or should I go for the 4 bulb?
Also looking for suggestions on bulb selection. Currently have the ATI Blue Special and Blue+ running, I have a GE6500k I want to use because I get crazy growth out of it.
What should my fourth bulb be?
Not so concerned with looks as much as what will help with the best growth!

I voted for four, looking long term you will be happy you got the four bulb set up if you ever have to do another upgrade.

Great point, thinking out side the box. I was thinking of needs of the coral and par...

Yeah, and 4 bulbs are better than 3. If you need an area with less light a few sections of window screen layered over top of each other would work wonders.

That's an easy call.......4:D You already have the ballast for it, pretty cheap to go to 4 bulbs.
I would think you could add the Fiji Purple (to try) or another blue plus. I have a 6 bulb tek fixture and I got that one because I can always decrease PAR by playing with the lights or increase it. You have more flexibility with additional bulbs.

Ya, it would only cost $70 bucks to add a fourth bulb, but then again I could buy say a nice favia or something instead

I vote 4 as well, do AB Special and Blue + skip the GE, unless you want to grow Chaeato, then it is an AWESOME choice. ;)

I would do 4. I am liking the UVL 75/25. Kinda like 14k. If you combine it with other bluer bulbs it is quite cool. Seems to make reds pop.

Who make the Fiji Purple I can't seem to find it, well at least at the three online spots I purchase from.
So the over all feeling is that the ATI Blue Plus and Blue Special are the way to go, 2 and 2 of each?

I'm setting up a 45 cube and I will be running 3 Blue+ and 1 Blue Special. Mine will be mostly zoa/paly with some LPS maybe down the road. IMO that would work for you as well especially with 12" depth
