Hermitt crab gone mad!

I added my first hermit crab two days ago, and right away it was eating and roaming. From the next morning on though, it stayed in its shell and didnt do anything, until I came home today and it had left its shell and is hanging out, not eating anything on a rock. Does anyone have any idea what's gong on with my little buddy? I mean, I do have friends, but my hermit crab. That'd be pretty sad....;)

now when you say he's hanging out... that he is out of his shell totally???

if that is the case make sure its not just a molt.... I have been fooled before by a molt. that may have been why he was not active... he was getting ready to shed.

never mind, it was dead and being eaten by a bristle worm;/ ...love that.

awww man that sucks.... but you can see the shell he used to occupy correct to make sure???

I would almost think that a bristle worm would snack on a cast off skin of a hermit.
