I was at Preuss Pets the other day and they said you had been in with a new LED light. Is this light something that is available now? Do you have any details/pics you can share?

The LED arrays we have available now are incorporated into some new fixtures we just recently released.

Here is a picture of our 4' MH/T5/LED unit.

Do those come in a 2-foot model?

Do you end up with shimmer effect from the LEDs or no?

+1 to Jims Q, we could do a little testing for you!! I think we have the same foot print!

4' models of both are available now. 2' and 3' versions should be available soon.

A little bit, but not like with MH's. Because of the number of LED's we use (75 in each 4' array), the point source affect is diminished.

Yes and if you want to see them in person, go to Sea Shells Aquarium in Warren, Michigan. Michelle bought two of the 4' T5/LED units for her store displays.

Right around the corner from me...any idea when the 2 foot will be released?

Hate to keep asking, what wattage are the MH's?

Not sure if I can ask, but what sort of price range are we in? And if you had to guess, how about the price range of the 2-foot? (Won't hold you to the numbers...;))

The MH's are 250 watt double-ended.

The 4' MH/T5/LED is around $1,000. The 4' T5/LED should be between $650-750.

I don't know just yet. I am going to headquarters tomorrow, so I should know better by the end of the week.

Did so today and they are amazing. Really loved the nice clean look of the fixture and the light from the LED was very nice. Honestly I was a little surprised that there was not an active cooling system of some type?

There are no fans because they don't need it. The LED's give off no heat whatsoever. And because of the way we alternated the T5 fluorescent lamps and LED arrays, the T5's have that much more "room to breath" so they stay relatively cool.

Steve would you then say it is not needed for me to have a fan on my 4 x 24 retro on a 660. I have about 1 1/2-2 inches between each bulb for my frag tank.

Also when do the retro LEDs come out, and how can I get some?
Thanks

No, when you operate T5's on a 660, you really should use fans.

They will be available mid-December, just in time for the holidays.

Steve- I saw the new light fixture on the tank at Preuss Pets this evening. What's the eta and pricing on a 24-inch version?

2' and 3' versions will be available first week in February. Pricing is still a little up in the air.
