I started using a product from Seachem called Reef plus, it's concentrated vitamin & amino acid supplement. I have to say I'm very happy with the results, my corals have gotten bigger and more colorful and I'm also not getting as much algae on the glass. My skimmer seems to be pulling more gunk and my fish seem happier. I don't have any SPS in my tank so I don't know how they would react to this stuff, but for all the softies I have they seem very happy.

interesting. Is this a product that you dose directly into the tank or is it a food soak?
FWIW - I'd guess the skimmer is removing some portion of the product and that's why you're seeing increased production.

The bottle says you can add it directly, or soaked in some food. I figured that the skimmer must be removing some, I'm still very happy with it.

So, which are you doing (dosing or soaking)?
Wasn't trying to be negative about the skimmer thing. Just thought I should mention it. If you want to get more "bang for your buck" you could shut the skimmer off for bit when you dose. I used to do that back when I dosed phyto.

I like to dose it, I've tried adding supplements with food and my tang tends to eat a majority of it. I really like your idea of turning off the skimmer, that never really crossed my mind. I'm fairly new to the dosing thing so any tips are apriciated.

Just remember to turn the skimmer back on! I was notoriously bad at that :duh:
