A local guy is tearing down his tank and selling off all of his stuff. He has beautiful tank, which I am always amazed at. I think he must be having an family emergency because I can't think of any reason why a very dedicate reefer would pitch it all including equipment.

Anyways, I am going to see about buying up a bunch of his coral (zoas, shrooms, leathers..) and maybe (I hope) his beautiful Rose anemone. Is there anything I should be aware if I buying a large mass of corals at a time?

hmm, where are you going put em? have you got the room for that many corals at once, and will your tank handle the spike in bioload?

When you look at our tank Whoyah, that's pretty much most of what you see going on in there. Lot's of softys, shrooms, leathers...exactly what it sounds like you're planning on putting in your tank. How many are you really talking about. We've put in as many as 4-6 at once and just paid very close attention to any water changes. If things started to looked rough, we were real consistent with our water changes. Even though we got more coral, we still payed close attention to our feeding. It's easy to overfeed when you have it in your head that you have so many new residents. Just watch that closely which I'm sure you already know all that! I say go ahead and do it Whoyah. You're a smart man and know where your limit is. Give them plenty of space between each other in the tank... see who likes to be up high and who likes it low. You'll do this blindfolded!! Good Luck! .........Angel :)

I was planning on putting them in my main tank. I don't really have the capacity to quarantine very much stuff. The bio load in my tank is fairly low compared to the amount of water and LR I have in there. I was thinking of seeing if I could introduce a piece every couple days to keep the spike lower. The amount of corals really shouldn't be that large. Just a few good size colonies of zoas, a set of buttons and some shrooms. His tank is lot more sparkling then mine so I am not really worried about pests.

My main concern is the anemone. It is good size and just beautiful, rose colored with a blue and green shimmer on the central disc section. I was kind of holding off getting an anemone, hoping his would split again but that kind of flew out the window. I think with the new skimmer and some dutiful maintenance I can manage it. He has a single perc that hosts in it as well that I would be getting. My perc has been bothering my frog spawn frag so I think that would work great.

I haven't heard back from the guy but I am guessing he has a lot of irons in the fire right now.

Sounds like you've got a good plan, to me.

I say Go For It!! If you don't, you'll regret it later! You'll make it work! That Anemone sounds beautiful. I don't think I could pass on that either!
