Curious what you guys trust to keep you temperature rock solid on your tanks.

I've been controlling my heat through my RKL and PC4, but am looking at changing things up with a dedicated controller and heater. Trying to decide between the JBJ and the Finnex.

What do you use, why, and good or bad experiences would be great!

Further recommendations would be welcomed!

I have had good luck with Finnex. With that said I don't entirely trust any of them. I actually just ordered another one, with winter coming and the back of my tank more open than before I need to get a larger one and replace one already in use. I always get them with a built in thermostat and also plug them in to my ACjr. for back up in case of failure.

If your going to invest in a controller get a Ranco. They are super dependabe and can handle like 1000 watts.

Rob, I have always tried to stay away from heaters if possible. After reading so many horror stories I always try to find ways to warm/ heat up the water by using a heat source outside the tank.

The good thing about a reef is that you have a good range of temp the corals can handle.

example: at my previous place my reef was between 81-85 F ( 1.5 yrs no problem)

at my new place the reef is between 76-80 ( so far things look okay)

Ranco, dual stage. Set it up with a heater and your fans, one to heat the tank and the other to cool it down.
