Newbie here:

tank = 48L x 24W x 30H (150 gal). Will be built into wall w/ active ventilation.
initial thought was to go MH 2 x 400W, but other sources say I'd be fine w/ ATI PM T5 54W x 10. (w/ careful placement of sps). Trying to survey many places to be sure I'd be OK w/ the T5 fixture.

Also, would like to poss have a Clam at some point.. will a clam seat itself higher on reef if lighting at bottom not sufficient?

Would appreciate any comments (good or bad)... Thx.

T5 all the way baby. They get better depth penatration than MH, they run cooler, your electric bill will be more affordable, and there are more color options or combination possibilities. You will also be able to keep any coral you want anywhere you want.

I run a 5x24 watt T5 Aquatinics over my 25x25x25 and have clam 5 inches from the sand and sticks up high! Soon adding some LED's too.

ATI is awesome, if I wasn't changing my mind on the direction of my light set up the PM would be my choice.
