Not sure why but all but one of my snails have died~could it be that there is no algae on the glass/back of my tank? The algae is growing on the LR only and I've noticed that the snails will not touch it.
Is there any type of snail that will eat algae off of LR? I'm looking into the Magarita snail.

Mass snail death would make me wonder what your amonia levels are at.

Wish I could help ya on a suggestion on rock algea eating snails, but I'm not too sure on that one.

I would also look at temperature swings. Consider looking at the tank 2 hours after the light goes out and see if you can find any pests.

No to the temp swing~0 on ammonia~I have seen these teeny tiny little elongated snail looking things hanging from 1 of the snails~I've also seen them hanging on the glass~they are very hard of shell.

Describe the shape, size and color of the snails please. You could get a Tuxedo Urchin, would add some neat life and color to the tank. Might have to sell it off after the algae is gone though.......

I just went to Xtalreef and found a possible cause~PYRAMID SNAILS~exactly what they look like and I'm only seeing them on my turbos~but I did lose 2 star snails also.

There we go! Nice ID!. Im not certain but those are only harmful to Clams. Again not certain about that.

If you see little white snails hitching a ride on your turbo snail, astraea, or clam, you may have these nasty parasites.

Answers about my star *astraea* snails too.
