Server Move - Bug Reporting Thread

I will keep this thread updated with info as I know more.

Right now the server move is scheduled to happen at 10pm EST tonight. My goal is to leave the chat box open if possible. All other CR functions will be disabled on the current server. Once the new IP address is known, I will provide that so you won't have to wait for the DNS propagation to be on the new server. By tomorrow AM, hopefully the DNS will update throughout your internet providers and full service will resume to "captivereefs.com".

Again, logistics are underway as I know more I will let you all know what is happening.

The process has started. Files are being copied now. Next step in about two hours will be to shut down the d-base.

I see we have a few issues to resolve but mostly it looks like we made it.

I have noticed several issues already that I will need to work on. Banner ads server is not working, there are a couple errors when you reply to posts, and an issue when posting a new thread. If you find something beyond those, please report it here.

It may take a few days to track everything down and be 100% again. I appreciate you guys hanging in there with me while I get things fixed. :)

Not a bug, but something I had implemented to try to make things better on the old server. Since things seem better here, I reconfigured to show in the threads again.

There seems to be a problem with the quick edit for some reason. I've added that to the list of issues. You can still click "go advanced" to edit a post.

Aside from Tankster's PEBKAC, I think all of the issues on the list above are corrected now. Anyone else finding errors headers or issues doing any thing on the site?

chat box still going into inactive mode while browsing

I have the chat box set to go inactive after 10 minutes. I think this is a good setting as there is no sense using server resources if your not actively viewing the site. If you leave the window or tab open and go do something, it might as well have it go inactive...right? But, if you guys feel strongly to use the inactivity setting I will change it...

I can't get any avatar to work. I've tried several images, both off my computer, and from Photobucket.

Yes, they were small enough. They've worked for other sites, also.

Login/Logoff -- I am constantly being logged out. I have to log in multiple times even over the course of a few minutes. If I hit refresh (like for the inactive chat), I have to login. I've even been in the middle of sending chats or PMs and have to log back in, only to find my item was not sent nor saved. Anyone else having an issue with this or is it just me?

Inactive chat -- I don't really like that feature... but that's just me. :) See issue above.. LOL

I'm curious if others are having login/out issues as well. Did you try clearing all of your cookies and cache? What browser are you using?

The inactive chat only kicks in after 10 minutes of inactivity. It cuts down on server load. I guess I can't see taking resources away (potenially slowing the site down) for folks that aren't really active. I walk away from my computer or go to another tab and get the same message. Just a quick refresh and your back in the game.

Do you have another machine to try to see if it does it on that?

Try this: reset your password, log out, clear your cookies and cache, then login (click remember me). I'm positive this is a cookie issue....you've got an old moldy one (probably fig newton :blackeye:) that we need to force to be rewritten. Worst case scenario is you have to buy a new computer....:)

Regarding chat...hitting refresh...your not talking about the inactive mode just stalls out?

Is anyone else having the issues that thefishgirl posted about?

Nope not inactive mode stalling- chat just seems to lag out of the blue- a refresh or click to new page fixes the issue. Inactive mode happens every 10 mins or so, right? The lag is completely random.

No issues like thefishgirls here.

nope mine is when im in the chat talking and i dont get anyone elses messages i have to refresh and them boom theres like forty and when im in the game room i always getting sent to reefers luck.. which if it means im going to win im ok with that :)

I've noticed the chat thing too but generally I just click on post to read and it catches back up - though sometimes I've missed pages of conversation

Darn...I just had that chat lag thing happen as well. I think it is one of those processes that is highly server dependent. As you'll recall before the serve move it basically shut down at times. I don't think there is much I can do about it. As I work along I will keep the issue in mind and hopefully come up with a fix. But I guess if every 5 minutes you need to hit refresh it's better than it was.

Amanda are you saying if you refresh in the game room (casino) you are getting sent to reefers luck?
