Well heres an out of the ordinary tank of mine. It is a coldwater biotope based off of the Puget Sound here in Washington. It is cooled with a chiller, I painted and made the overflow myself. It is kept at 59 degrees let me know what you think :)

Awesome!

I love cold water anems, some of the coolest animals we can keep! Do you do your own collecting?

Also, that looks like a standard aquarium (based on the rim), how thick is the glass? Do you get any "sweating"?

Thanks! Yes, everything in the tank is collected from my family's property in the San Juan Islands here in WA. Yes it is the standard 15g, I haven't had any "sweating" but that is because it is the winter and cold still, but last summer I got a little, the thing is I have an AC unit just for my room so it stays basically the same temp all year.

Thanks, yeah the starfish is pretty cool, and the blue and copper are nice colors IMO.

Thanks! They are neat and fun to feed. Since they are non-photosynthetic, well almost everything is, then I get to and feed them a lot haha

What's your feeding regiment for those anemones? I can't remember do you have any fish?

Beautiful colors too. You should definitely do a CR Showcase My Reef page!!

It really depends on how busy I am. I should feed every day or other day but it is usually something like once a week.

I did, but an ammonia level killed them. I added 3, and that was too many. I am going to add two or less from now on.

Heres the worm I was talking about earlier. I should look it up, it can swim around or crawl. It does both very quickly. It seems to eat leftover food, and they are multiplying.

True dat.

I think I have already IDed it. It grows to 36" long and prefers fresh dead clam haha. But they scavenge anything so I have a new CUC member!

Yup. Pretty neat fo sho.

Any new additions to this sweet coldwater tank?

Naww. My macro algae is kind of on the weak side because my urchins have eaten basically all of it, so thats kind of annoying.

I concur. Def out of the ordinary, like you said. DEF keep us posted on your tank.

Does a coldwater tank require different kind of lighting?

Jacobnano
05-13-2010, 08:21 PM
Usually a coldwater tank doesn't need very intense lighting. I had macro in mine but I am still deciding whether or now I will continue to. I have been having some algae problems (pest kind) and the urchins are eating the desirable kind.

I hate sticking my arm in my 72* seahorse tank. I'm scared to think of what it must be like to put your arm in this baby! :)
