I was checking out a really cool and well stocked LFS by my moms last weekend. The guy there mentioned a product that will cycle the tank in 24 hours, is that even safe? He said it was. So I asked him how long I would have to wait after using the product to add some anemones, he said about 3.5 - 4 weeks. I know when I set up my FW tank I used stress zyeme to shorten the cycle a few days, but 24 hours? Has anyone used or know any one that has used a 24 hour cycling product? unfortunately, I don't remember the products name.

IMO, don't be fooled by those chemical "all-betters"... I used to own and operate my own LFS and even though we personally still went with the natural route(time and patience being the suggested additives) we still promoted and sold chemicals. The do their jobs, don't get me wrong, but the ill effects are not worthy of the desired outcomes.

I don't think it was a chemical, but a bottle of bacteria to "stock" your tank instead of waiting for it to multiply.

I would do it the natural way! If it's a bacteria starter I guessit's o.k. I try not to use too many chemicals in my tanks.

If you use well cured LR(local source) and established LS from a reefer your tank will cycle in about a day anyways(not always).I've seen friends setup tanks this way and put fish in the next day although i wouldn't recommend it.If you want live bacteria, just scoop out some of the sand/silt from the bottom of the LR bin at your LFS.

Adding the live bacteria is a good start, but still would advise taking "baby steps" to achieve your goal of an established aquarium.
