Our daughter 'Seahorsinaround' or something like that, has just joined the ranks of a nanoreefer, I 'd had her little 5 gallon bow-front acrylic tank for the last 6 months downstairs as an experiment that kind got left aside for a while... We got a good sized false perc that was being picked on a little by our little clarkii, so Clarky moved to Gab's room in her nano reef. Starting it off with about 1" of well cycled sand, 5-6lbs of very established LR complete with pods and snails, and 5 gals of water from our display tank I pulled during a water change. Should have been an instant cycle.

We'll see how things go over the next few days. Going to yank that little incandescent (10w?) bulb and replace it with a 6500K 40w power compact bulb and add a couple of kenya tree frags in a few days and just see how things work out. Should be a fun little project to monitor and just see how things work out.

I bet she's thrilled.Thats so cool that she's taking an interest in reefkeeping. My daughter hardly shows any interest in my tanks but i hope to convert her eventually.

Well this puts on on the track she's chosen, she's been talking about going to school to become a Marine Biologist, got a start on now. At least for the moment anyhows, hope it's not just a 'flavor of the month' deal, but then again whatever makes her happy is fine by us. If she keeps up with it, we'll move her to a larger tank after a few months.

She's really into the seahorseswith her old mother! We're going to do the tant tank in the wall as a nice conversation piece also. We've got it figured out!! :) Her Daddys got her started though! :)
