well I was inspired by Lemonyx's sump build, so I tried my first diy tank build! I must say it is nowhere as nice as his but it is together. I used 1/2" lexan and machined it on a bridgeport mill it's 27x19x10 20 gallons. then I machined an overflow box and bent it 90 degrees with a heat gun.

the overflow is just sitting there for now.

Nice work! What are your plans for it? Grow out for display, QT, or grow for profit?

Looking good there. Since you built the tank why not build the sump, might as well

Don't forget to use a piece of dense foam under that tank and on top of the stand. Is the steel stand painted? It's gonna to rust really bad being that close to salt water.

I might, yes I did paint the stand it may need another coat though. I need to get some foam, where and what do I use?

I drilled the tank and stand, built the return and overflow. I had to machine the PVC on the over flow to get to work for such a shallow depth. I used the DIY durso stand pipe directions for the owerflow. http://www.dursostandpipes.com/make-your-own-diy
next I have to glue the overflow box in, and do some work on the stand, it has a small hump in the middle so I'm thinkink I may build a frame for the tank to sit on then I can shim the frame to level the tank. It's not the Ideal stand but it was free!

Yt: looking good. Don't sell yourself short. That looks good. I like the fit and finish effort you are making.
I saw a couple of George (of Geo acrylics) builds a similar size frag tank for guys who go to swaps to sell on a regular basis. One addition that he uses is a very simple closed loop powered by a single maxijet: It keeps the look clean as well as the pump out of the way of the customer.

thanks! yes I made it, http://www.dursostandpipes.com/make-your-own-diy so far I've made every thing except the stand, I found it at work ready to be thrown out, I had to do a few modifications to it and paint it.
