Well ya'll once again I'll be on the move. Since my son came home to mom there's no longer room here at my sis's for all of us~plus I can't have my dogs here.
We've found a new place!!! Which will hold my 75g (if I decide to keep it) but will it be worth setting it up as a SW seeing it's not drilled for SW? Could I use the 2 magnum 350's for filtration? The price of a much larger tank scares me to death. I have sooooo many questions!!!

First off, any tank can be used for SW drilled or not. They make affordable HOB overflows for sumps. Second, glass is extremely easy to drill to install bulkheads to drain to a sump. I did my very first tank drill just about a month or so ago and was a breeze. Anyone with a drill and the right diamond coated hole saw could easily tackle this!

Im getting excited for you!!

The tank would make a great SW setup (drilled or not). Personally I wish my tank was drilled... hindsight you know.

My only caution for going SW would be if you ever used Copper (Cu) medications when it was set up FW. Cu is toxic to animals lacking a backbone. It has been suggested that Cu can be absorbed into silicone and slowly leach back out causing problems. I'm not sure if this has ever been tested or proven but thought I'd put it out there. Personally I think a single Cu treatment wouldn't cause a problem but frequent or long-term Cu treatments may.

HTH,
Tom

Nope never a copper used :) I'm still asking if the mag 350's could be of any use. Like maybe filling em up with LR rubble or carbon or fiber?

I have know lots of people who used canister filters on their sw tanks. FO, FOWLER, and a couple with reef tanks. I personally wouldnt use it as your only source of filtration. All in all you really cant beat a sump/fuge/skimmer combo. A good quality HOB skimmer along with those and maybe a hob fuge would work fine. I used a cpr hob combo for over 2 years on my 30g worked great.
Good luck with everything!

Does anyone know where I can find step by step instructions for setting this system up~I'm only wanting to study for now as I'm not looking to set it up until the end of summer.
