Found him in my work nano. What do you think the possibility is that was the only one? Also I am pretty sure but what do you think zoa eating type? I wonder where it came from? I dip most of my corals do you think it could have been in the rock? Its been up since feb and this is the first time I noticed it.

I would dip/inspect all your zoas possible- and see if anything pops off- and inspect for eggs while you are at it.
If you dont find any more- you might be lucky.
No matter what though- keep a close eye on everything.

yea gonna really start watching it. So far no casualities everything is growin good and spreading so keep fingers crossed. I may try to wait on a massive dipping most everything is attached to the rock and its just one so... after the contest I may do that. Its all so happy right now dont want to ruin that.

well just like adding on to a house... time to knock a wall out and add on LOL
Train your harliquin to eat it, never know might be possible lol
Ill just drill a hole and plumb it in to my 75g. oh wait I really dont want those in there my luck the wrasse would go "no way I aint eating those everything else yes but not those". Harly would never do it. Why cant stuff be more accomodating you know! Like this- hey starfish can you grab that really expensive frag that fell in the deepest darkest reaches of the tank? Sure no problem be right back mighty bringer of food! oh well. lol

Nice find and pics. In my personal experience zoa eating nudis take on the color of the zoa they are eating. That's what makes them so easy to find at night with a blue LED flash light.

it was crawling on the front glass. lol All the zoos are fine the only thing that is not doing good is a piece of spongodes. He is/was the color of the mohawks though, but they are growing out of control maybe I should have left him. lol

Nice thread title... caught my attention! :shower:
Watch out for eggs, they are sprial shaped and generally visible when the polyps are closed. I snuff them out with a tooth pick and then dip the piece again to rinse them off.

I'd like to see other post their photos. Some nudi's are really colorful. I am REAL interested in seeing the ones that DO NOT eat zoas. Thanks!

LOL, I was thinking the same thing at first Jim.
Good info on the eggs as well. When I found mine they were on the under side or shaded side of the polyp and were in a very distinctive pattern of white dots.

They're just Lettuce Nuds - not eating Zoas, helping to clean up some zoa frags that were in the Clam tank when we got 15 Tuamotu Maximas in - they threw off alot of debris, and with a tank thats only 12", we didn't have any Tangs or anything in there.
No worries though - Great Lakes Aquarium is working on our replacement 165.

So they are both Lettuce Nuds??

Ya, the Gold one is losing its color slowly but surely as it eats green algae.
It mustve been grazing a pretty cool, unique algae.
It could be a slightly different species, but it behaves the same, and they were billed as the same species as the others

Along with this single Nudi, I found a couple hundred eggs. This is a good example of why why I dip and inspect EVERYTHING with a 6X magnifying glass (old eyes.)

Jim - didn't plan on brining them.
I can bring one if you want - $18 is the best I can do on them, I bought them fairly large - they're around 1.5" already!
I can do the Gold on on request if you want too.
Email me at Zach@lucidcorals.com if you want one!

Those photos were taken less than 10 minutes apart. You can still see the flecks of gold color on it's appendages.
That one was relatively easy to spot as there were so few polyps - Put him in a larger frag or colony, and it becomes very difficult. Best bet is scanning your Zoas at night/early morning when they are closed up.
Nudi eggs are usually a thin line of white eggs laid roughly in the shape of a circle on the undersides of the Zoas and look like this...

The eggs are sticky and are not killed during a dip so they have to be removed manually.

That is exactly how I found mine Tom. It was at night all polyps were closed, but there was a green nudi crawling around. It assumed the color of the radio dragons it was munching.
