Good morn'n all,
Just got my ReefKeeper 2 setup. What an amazing piece of hardware! I would appreciate some advice regarding which, if any, of the equipment I should turn off from late night until morning. Should I turn off the powerheads, skimmer, filter? I do turn off the lighting.
Thanks,

Leave it all running, the oceans don't back off at night and you tank shouldn't either.
One additional problem with shutting equipment that contains water off for any length of time is the water becomes stagnant and loses all its dissolved oxygen which is not good. If its not moving its going stagnant or septic.

Here is a thread I started a while back that might be helpful. Hasn't seen many contributions from others lately, but who knows maybe you'll find a groovy new program or use you can share!!

Thanks AZDesert Rat,
I'm assuming I should also feed with the pumps running?

I feed with pumps running but it could be either way. If I had corals or critters that needed spot feeding I would use the feeding/stand by mode on my RKL. I enabled it in the program but forget its there!
I am not sure what improvements they made with the RKL over the RK2 but I have my MH and VHO lights on a PC4 set for noon to 9 PM and also have them programmed so they shut off and alarm on overtemperature. I have fans set on the iTemp to come on and go off based on water temp. The pH probe is set to control my calcium reactor once its repaired and reinstalled. All the pumps are in the feeding mode program. The Koralia Evo 1400's are on the wavemaker mode at 1 minute switching intervals. The heater is on a PC4 and iTemp probe set so if its external controller fails it only rises one degree before the RKL shuts it off. I have their MLC moonlight controller and have 3 pods on the lunar cycle so they rise and set and dim and brighten just like the moon phases. I have more stuff on it too but forget at the moment.

AZDesertRat,
Wow, thanks for all of the info. I bought my RK2 second hand and downloaded the manual which seems to be very brief. I'm going to play with the settings and see if I can locate the alarm and see if I can find the feeding/standby mode.

Go to the Support Forum found on Digital Aquatics website. Lots of good info and tips on programming, much more than in the manuals and most of it from end users like ourselves so easy to understand.
