Six months ago, eight members started a nano tank to compete in the Captive Reefs Nano Contest (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6627).

By the time February 28 rolled around the pool of contestants had been narrowed down to four. The official contestants were Cash (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6386), thefishgirl (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6249), iyachtuxivm (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6963), handlevandal (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6290)

Three of the contestants have completed the contest. I personally feel that each of the contestants did a great job and their tanks look great too. However, there can be only one winner...and now it is time for the membership to judge their tanks. The winner will receive $80 (from the contest entry fees) and an 8 gallon biocube donated by Amazon Stingrays. Voting will be open until June 21, 2010 at which time we will crown the CR Nano Contest Champion.

So, take a look at their contest threads, feel free to ask them questions and make comments. And, once you have a favorite, please cast your vote to help with the big decision.

my personal choice was Handlevandal's nano aquarium. i liked the scape and position of corals. great healthy looking fish and coral all looking good. the others were good as well but would have loved to see a bit more documentation and "filling". but the filling part would have been a struggle i know because of the price limit and economic issues.

So difficult to decide. Iyachtuxivm using cutting edge technology, fishgirl with the most unique scape, and handlevandal I felt had the best corals and placement. I could go on and on.............Im gonna have to ponder on this one a while too! Congrats to all.

Congrats to everyone who participated. Great looking tank Jackie. Now that the coral limit has been lifted, do you have plans to add anything? What are you gonna blow the winning loot on? I think there is a rule it must be on the tank and not on lame old bills!

Thanks Rob. I already moved the corals from there into the big tank and the nems and clowns from the big tank into the nano. The BioCube originally was either going to be a hospital quarantine tank or a nem tank and while I was growing the nano the nems were traveling about the big tank reeking havoc, so it was kind of a no brainer. The nems and clowns are happy as can be in the nano and survived the power mess so it works out quite nicely, and the rics and acans from the nano are doing well in the big tank. I guess I'll just resurrect the little 16 gallon tank in the basement if I need a hospital tank in the future.

I need a new ballast for my halides since the power outage fried one of them so the dollars will be spent at the Trop (as usual). I'm not sure what I'll do with the little nano, but I'm thinking that it would be really nice on my desk at work with some freshwater plants and a betta, but I'll wait a while on that one. I've got my hands full doing water changes to try to keep the tanks that suffered in the outage alive.

Excellent job & congrats on your hard work.

Also, congrats to TFG. Runner-ups are always forgotten - your tank shouldn't be.
