Gracilaria

looking for answers to why my Gracilaria is turning translucent colors and soft and brittle. I've had them for about a week and a half and they are normally dark reddish-brown. I just use it for refugium algae. What's going on?

I would guess you have a lack of nutrients, or it needs more light?? I am not very familiar with this algea, other than tangs love it!

I just took a nitrate test yesterday and it tested at about 25-30ppm. I also am running a 60W CF at 5500K for 12+ hours at night. Should I change anything? Do they need to be rooted on a rock or in a sand bed? Is free floating ok?

From what all I'v read on this algae it requires moderate lighting and flow. It also needs to be rooted via LR. Hope this helps
