Vittlekings 150 Gallon Noob tank

Well finally got some decent pictures of my tank. It's still a work in progress, and just starting out so nothing super exciting just yet. Mainly keeping zoo's and paly's for now, we'll see where it leads me LOL. I'm a baller on a budget, so trying to take things slow and look out for good deals. My favorite piece has got to be the fire and ice combo rock colony I bought from the Ypsi Fish Doctors. I got the tank of CL and it was in really bad shape, but spent about 2 weeks making it look nice. I really like the DIY wood trim to cover the black trim of the tank.

I had another huge one that started to chow a sinularia frag I had. Luckily I was watching him as he did it and got him out. This guy has smaller claws and doesn't bother the polyps. I've had him for a couple months now too. He will climb on a few of my colonies and just eat the crap that is in the dead brain coral they are attached to, but leaves the polyps alone. He knocks stuff over sometimes though. My son really likes him so I hope he can stay. I have a big wet dry with bio balls, and a nautilus TE ran with a mag 7 with some macro algae in it. When I can actually get a day off work I plan on plumbing a 20 and 10 gallon into the wet dry with bulkheads to make a bigger sump, ditch the bio balls and add more live rock. Have 260 watts of PC lighting, and have a coralife t-5 that needs new bulbs, so I could add that if I had to.

Ok, finally got a few spare minutes for an update. The big hermit now lives in the sump/fuge. Some of the zoo's have really spread, the paly's are doing well also. I've got some higher end stuff finally. Don't know the names of most. Just got an 8 polyp frag of rastas and am very excited to finally have some of those. I'm really digging this new chalice also. Well here's an update, hope you guys like it.

The orange centered ones that you were asking about on the first page may be reverse eagle eyes. I havnt looked them up but Lucid was calling them that. If so they are terrific growers lol my urchin is always trying them on but cant get far with them.

Hi Joe. Your tank still amazes me! What is that orange mesh thing you use to cover your overflow?? I was debating on building an overflow box with teeth, but I imagine your orange mesh method works quite well. Have you ever had anything get stuck to it? Any problems with anything clogging your overflow? Advice greatly appreciated! Thank you!

it's a plastic protective coating thingy I found at work. I don't use that anymore, I built a little cover out of plastic zip ties and egg crate that fits over the overflow. works great. If you want to mess around with those orange sleeves, I can look for some at work and mail them to you. Let me know.

not much Chris, switched to a 100 gallon long the same footprint size and lost some stuff. NOt a ton, but some expensive stuff. Haven't been buying much, have some nice chalices though. Some z's and p's and what not.
