Here is a problem that I know some one has found the solution to. How in the heck do I make my overflow not loud? Its mainly the gurgling of the drain pipe. I took care of the "chug, chug" sound, now I just have the steady gurgle. The drain pipe is from a kit I bought at the LFS. Its the pipe with the 90 degree elbow atached to the top. The top of the elbow is drilled and the sides of the pipe at the top have holes where the water seems to be going down, thats seems to be the source of the sound. Who has figured out how to silence this and how did you do it?
Thanks

Search for Hofer Gurgle Buster, Stockman and Durso standpipes. One of those should work well for you. I use a Stockman but have been wanting to build and try a gurgle buster to compare it to.

I built the Hofer and have been using it for years. When it is adjusted just right it works very well in keeping the noise level at an acceptable level.

I took the pieces of pvc out of my overflow all together.

I use a durso and my skimmer air intake is louder by 10X than my durso.
