My lights are now 5-6 months old getting that time to change em out. Last time I encountered an algae bloom. Is there any way to avoid this from happening again?

I would love to upgrade! If someone wants to donate to the cause. Until then it's 40$ verses 400$

You can change one of the bulbs out...wait a month or two, & then change out the other bad one. That way it's not a blast of all new bulbs at the same time.

It worked for me before. Not all tanks are the same...

screen or mesh method. just put 3 layers of screen on the tank and each week remove one layer.

It's an 8g biocube-CF so that idea won't work ;)

Why wouldn't it work? Just pinch the screen between the lid and the tank. You should only need a single screen for a few days to acclimate everything to the new bulbs. The algae bloom is because of the sudden increase in light
