Thought you guys would like to see my newest addition to the family, I've had such an outbreak of those little acro stars that I borrowed him from a friend.

extremely cool pics.

how do they act in the tank? as friendly as a cleaner shrimp or do they tend to knock things over or hide? and what lighting and camera for the pics? I just got a cannon A510 and would like to be able to take some like that.

Hi Dan, They are great in a tank, just like cleaner shrimp. They tend to be shy at first but he comes out quite a bit now that he knows his way around the tank. As far as lighting when taking pictures, I set my camera to manual and the fastest speed with the daylight setting , no flash.

well, what about lighting inside the tank?

Looks like you have a black light in there, hense the cool glow.

I'm assuming that if you have one regular tank light, you can have one black light as well?

As long as he has food, which is star fish, he should last a long time.
He has been in my tank since May, and now I rarely see any acro stars.

Thanks... I hope i dont have encounters with those sea stars. How common are they in the trade? Do they hitch rides often or are they kinda rare?

that is correct that is their main diet, they are good at ridding a tank of pest stars such as asternia stars. other than that they are great in a tank. just dont have any stars. I know a guy that has one and he buy chocolate chip stars and freezes them and cuts a chunk off to feed the harlequin. Kind of sad for the choco star but they are such a beautifull shrimp.

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Will he be able to eat a blue star that is about 4 to 5 inches across? or does he just take them in chunks?#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
