I was driving home today and had an though. For people that use venturi skimmers, I wonder if they could heat and/or cool their water by putting the venturi line into a heating/cooling duct. You would think in the summer it would draw cool air from the air conditioner cooling the tank, and in the winter, it would do the opposite. I'm sure it won't do as well as a chiller or a heater, but would be somewhat efficient one would think. Anyone else have thoughts on this, or ever tried this?

I don't think it would be efficient enough to notice. But I'd be interested to see someone try it.

wonder what kind of dust, particals ect. it would add to the tank?

Would this have an issue with 02 at all?

I don't think this would be efficient as a heating/cooling method but would work as a ph control method with a slight modification of instead of putting the air intake for the skimmer in the heating/cooling duct run it outside so it can suck fresh air

as many of us know increased co2 causes the ph to change (I cant remember what direction)

this would actually work for all skimmers not just the venturi ones

one main reason I can see it not being viable for heat control is because the air/water mixture still passes through a typically warm pump which would defeat the purpose
