This was my first official saltwater reef tank, and now I am learning it is a little too small for what I want.

I just snapped some quick pics, so the tank is dirty and not in "show" condition. But what can I say for going to school 4 hours a day (M-Th) and also working 40+ with a job 35 mins from home and owning a home... its leaves very little time to do things like clean the sides of the tank. Ohh and cant forget about Calc 2 homework that takes 3 hours to get nothing done.....:stars::stupidme::thumbsdown:

Also I am noticing something like cyano starting to pop up as you can see in some of the pics but this stuff is just a light brown color... maybe just detritus but there is a ton of flow in my tank.

The rest...

I also have a rotifer culture going down stairs which I will try to get some pics of also... sometime soon...

Very nice man! Rock looks awsome- and the awuascaping is very cool! Nice to see some big coral colonies too!

Those hairy mushrooms are huge!

The cyno- possibly diatoms???

CableGuy
07-22-2010, 12:06 AM
Yeah that would make since... it is sand and also Ive seen them more on the glass now.

I started to dose a little Phyto-feed and people say they can make diatoms spike... so now that you point that out that is exactly what that is... I will have to stop the dose and see what happens.

Thanks for the complements.

I dont know about good work... but Ill try... hahaahaha

I do know that I want to go to something like 48x36x26 or maybe 60x36x24/26..... I love DEEP tanks.

I just counted because the most I ever counted was 8 and I just counted 9. One looked kinda small so I did a quick re count and got 9, and that doesnt include what may be inside the rock that I cant see. So either another one hatched or I am having urchin babies... not even sure how they mate to tell you the truth.

yep, looks good. i have been thinking about urchins lately. i need something to clean the hair so that the kole tang and blenny will munch on the rest of the rock. (they dont touch hair) did you buy all those or are they hitchhikers? short spine urchins? and maybe a pencil? i would prefer to leave out the ones that collect stuff, lol.

Here are some pics of my grow out tank, juvi fish tank and my small (for now) hatching station:

Frag tank is a 48x18x12, with a 55G sump. Has about 30lbs of live rock and 30lbs sand, along with my new toy... an ASM G4.... awesome skimmer! I just need to get a light which I am working on now.

Juvi tank when my clowns get big enough is just a 30 tall with two yellow tails in it. They will come out of course and they are only in there to make sure everything is good. Tank has been filled but not running for about 2 months so I did a water change, let it sit for a couple days with some phantom feeding and all the levels are good and seem to like their home. Has some Florida rock and a couple tonga branches.

Hatching station is just a heavy duty rack. The tank on the right is my rotifers and the left one is my baby clowns tank. Plan on adding 4-6 more 10 gallons with a sump in the bottom.

I also threw a pic of my nems in there too...

Let me know what you guys think! (Tips, tricks, hints and help, along with constructive criticism are all welcome!)

Thanks!

Not sure.. tank is not fully cycled so I just had to running to test it... it is off right now and there is no bioload besides some ghost/phantom feeding I am doing to raise the ammonia, but I think the sand and rock are good already as they have been in established tanks.

Thanks, the wrasse doesnt look to healthy. Im kinda bummed I am using my old QT tank for something else because like I said he doest look too good. His fins look poor in quality and he is kinda skinny.

Im hoping to fatten him up and make him healthy.

The PJ's are doing well. I had one, and he/she is much larger and is doing well also. I am reading up right now on how to sex them so I know which are males / females.

Thanks for the comments :thumbsup::redneck:

Looking good! Lots going on in there.

I'm jealous of your flame angel. I've been toying with the idea for quite awhile now, but don't want to risk my palys, and zoas.
