rock and sand from florida?????????

I just got back from florida and have some rock and sand I got from pompano beach. I was wondering what I need to do with it before putting in my tank?

i really wouldnt suggest putting sand right off the beach into your tank, especially if its already established. it's likely contaminated with any number of things from human waste to oil and gas from boats to fertilizer run off. same thing with the rock.

The sand and rocks that are used in our tanks are collected off shore where the water is clean and unpolluted

I would agree with bjpembo. It is not worth the risk involved.
