Tubbs Blue Zoanthids PIF

I don't have much real nice stuff yet, but was able to frag these Tubbs Blues. They are located in Ypsilanti and I have a 5 polyp frag I will start a PIF with. Weekends and evenings are the best times for pickup. I live near Ford Lake.

Here is a picture of the colony I took the frag from.

greenstarfish just got the frag. I felt bad because he made a long trip for a tiny frag, so he got a few other goodies LOL. PJR will be happy to know that I gave him a chunk of the hollywood stunner that he gave me a good deal on also. Chort, make sure your buddy takes care of you LOL. He's got 2 chunks of fire and ice zoo's, maybe he'll share one. Hope they do well for you, it was nice meeting you Joe.

lol- I had a butterfly that tried to eat some of my other zoa's. He made an immediate trip to the sump when I seen him pulling zoas out of one of my groups. He has now found another home.

Growing slow. When I get them to a new rock I will you know.

yea i dont have any. I would be down for a PIF on these especially that i got kicked out of the stunner chalice and strawberry patch. i was goin through these and wonderin if any where still goin. or when a new one would start. i might strart one on something i have soon.

You didn't get kicked out, you just didn't post it correctly lol. Copy the list, add your name to the end and whether you wanted it both etc

I forgot all about this. I actualy have this frag for whoever is next on the list or whoever wants to come get it in Grand Blanc. The original frag was really small and it took it a while to grow. Since I have been a little tardy the plug has grown alot. Should be at least 10 heads on it and a couple bonus heads of something else that made its way on it.

Tropical Buff,

I have went round and round w/ Cyano over the years and it can be a pain. The correct answer to solving this is to fix the underlying problem ie. lights, nutrients, etc. I'm sure you have heard them. If not let me know an I can give you the details.

If the issue is bad to the point where you risk loosing corals and you can't seem to get it under control using the normaly suggested methods I would use Boyd's Chemiclean and not red slime remover. I used red slime remover many years ago and it knocked out the cyano but also knocked out the good bacteria allowing other types of algae o go wild. It finaly ended w/ me tearing down th whole tank and bleaching it and starting over. I can't garantee the Boyds stuff won't cause issues b/c afterall adding any kind of chemical to a reef is risky, but it has worked well for me in the past. It actualy leaves my water crystal clear. I need to do some research to see how this stuff actualy works b/c its not supposed to be an antibiotic like red slime remover.

If your problem is minor do some water changes and turn off your lights, cover the tank so its in total darkness for 2-3 days and see if that helps. That works pretty well unless the problem is real bad.
