my 120 gallon tank is in my bed room in the basement and i wanted to move it into another room and make it like a fish room... would this hurt the tank if i drained all of the water but left a little in with the sand? and would the tank crack if i left all the sand (90 lbs) in it and had a couple of buddies help me move it?

I've moved my 50 gallon with the sand in it several times with no issues. The move itself shouldn't cause the tank to crack (dropping or hitting it against something could). If its a short move, you should take as much water out as possible (less to lift). As long as the sand stays moist the bacteria shouldn't be negatively impacted.
HTH,
Tom
Remember to lift with your knees and don't lift it by the top rim-stock.

I agree- get all the water out you can, and dont disturb that sand bed!

I would think any move in your house is considered a short move. If you have to put the tank in a car or truck, that would be a long move. Good luck!

I think you should be able to move it with the sand in it with no problems. Except that its going to be heavy.
