I use a 12v 5w nano led for my chaeto-my sis brought home a 12v 10w halogen from her lube shop-would I be able to use the 10w since both have the same voltage?

Depends on the capacity of the power supply. 10W at 12v is 833mA. As long as the power supply has more capacity than that, then you should be fine.

Well I decided against it reason being that the little 5watter is warming up my tank to like 85-WTH? I can't even leave it on fer 24hrs!
