Decide which one of those you really want to keep, then build you tank to be successful for that particular species.

In the OCEAN there are areas of high light, low light, high flow to virtually no flow. Nutrient levels vary from virtually ZERO to water so turbid you can't see 3 feet.

Mixed reefs are certainly possible, but you will find the BEST growth/color can only be achieved by focusing your efforts on a favorite.

From personal experience, it is VERY tough to keep Sinularia and SPS in the same tank.

Really? Thats the worst advice I've ever heard....

You have to start with a 55g tank before you can even think about water! A stand would be prefered by most, having the tank drilled w/ an overflow and a sump even would be ideal... then you can start thinking about water, I'd suggest going with RO/DI with a 0 tds..... and then a salt mixture. I use Reef Crystals, because thats what my LFS uses and carries and it works for me others have different preferences and really thats about all it is is preference and if you want to supplement other things blah blah..... After obtaining these important things you will want rock (unless u go with dry rock then really you can get that at any stage before adding livestock and before cycling the tank lol), and sand (unless your going to go bare bottom)...... ooooh yeah and a skimmer, a skimmer is a good idea you will want one of those (in sumps are better then HOB but if you don't have a sump HOB is your option). Lights, you will definitely need some lights! LEDs are best, MH are good, t5s are nice, pcs.... pass! If your going to do a mixed tank especially with leathers a carbon reactor is almost a required so you will probably want one of those..... I think that would be a good start....

If you don't already have the tank, go bigger.... much much bigger... you will thank me later
