    the tank is realy old a guess about 15 years stored in a basment
    the whole thing needs to be resealed im going to scrape out all the old sillicone and put new down

    this should be good as new then right ?????

    Usually the silicone will retain some copper in it. If you are going to replace all of the silicone you should be fine. If you want to make sure you can wash the glass in a diluted HCl bath. I work in the environmental field. We do field testing for metals being emitted form stationary sources, ie smoke stacks. We do an EPA test method 29 for this sampling. All of our glassware needs to be clean from all contaminants. We will clean it in a 0.1N HNO3 solution, letting in soak for a couple of hours, As a hobbyist you probably do not have access to Nitric acid so Hydrochloric (pool acid) will work. The solution does not need to be that strong, I can look up the exact formula to make a 0.1N HCl solution but it is not important, Just wash the glass with a diluted HCl bath and then re-silicone you will be fine.
