Corals & the plugs they come on?

Does anybody remove their corals from the plugs before adding them to their tanks?

Yes, I hate frag plugs in my tank. I break it off or break off the post part and superglue it right where I want it. Use gel super glue only.

i drill out liverock rubble and put the plugs in the hole. couple months later they are overgrown and have a firm base for support. i hate frag plugs!

Ya know you'd think if I hated them as much as I do, I'd come up with a grand idea for something new and patent it and make a million. Of course I'd have to charge $40 per plug

for sps i usually remove them and just epoxy tem but most of the time i leave them attached and drill the rock or cut the stem off and epoxy them. i do this because if i get a rock covered in coral such as xenia (my issue right now) and i remove that rock from my tank to sell it and get a replacement that is not the same size then i have to re-aquascape the tank so i end up moving some of the plugs around to make it look good.

I love frag plugs...they fit so nicely in the rocks from The Alternative Reef and then don't fall off or get knocked over all the time.

when I can't find a hole that a plug fits into I break the stem off and glue on a thin piece of carbon fiber rod. I bought a long piece from the model shop(ryders) and cut off pieces to replace the metal shafts in my maxijets also .

I leave them as is at least for a while. I recommend acclimating any new frags to your light and flow and placing them somewhere you can keep an eye on them. After I'm comfortable with there needs and where I want them I will remove them from the plug or cut off the stem and glue them to a piece of rubble before final placement.
