    Default Corner overflow "covers"...?

On this new tank I am setting up, there are like partial covers on the overflows. What the heck are they and what is their purpose?

Got a pic? Maybe allow for a durso or other plumbing to come up and over the top?

They could be the ones that keep livestock out of the overflow.
