Default Fully Cryptic Reef Aquariums

Has anyone heard of this or had any experience with a cryptic reef aquarium set up? Just started doing some reading on it after I ran into it while looking up info on Tyree. It sounds interesting so far.

I've ran a cryptic refugium before.

What do you consider a "full cryptic" aquarium? Tyree runs what he's dubbed a Trizonal system, in which there are three different "zones" that grow different things (mainly sponges and aiptasia), each with different flow rates and mechanical filtration to allow only certain sized debris through each "zone".

Done a little reading on it, but haven't tried it. Thinking about if for a mod on my at home DT.

Pretty Cool! Did it work for you? How long did you run it? How was yours set up?

I run my entire sump cryptic, just live rock and volunteers. Sure makes for a nice clean sump. I don't run macro for nutrients as I do prodibio and vodka/vinegar. I would like to get an assortment of cryptic sponges to put in the live rock area of the sump.

That's cool. How does this help you with your display tank? What is prodibio and vodka/vinegar for?

Love Should NEVA Be Limited

the prodibio and vodka/vinegar are to promote the growth of bacteria that use up the nutrients which others use macro algae to export.

Ok. That's really cool. I'll have to do some reading on it and see if maybe that can help me out.
