Tx for the info Tal, Sadly its probably to late for this to be stopped. Snorkel Bob has gotten huge support from resorts and other aqua related tourists businesses. It is sad that common ground can't be found on this subject and the aquarium hobby will see more bans like this in other regions of our coastal waters. Once one is passed the others fall in line. For every positive there is to many negative cases that they throw out to the media to prove the point they hold. With the onset of global conditions, its theoretically possible in the very near future it will be an aquarium that shows the youth of the future what the oceans and streams of this world use to hold. It is also the aquarium hobbyist that strives for breeding and propagation techniques that sustain a species instead of manipulation of resources for eco tourist profits that benefit themselves more then any other. If snorkel Bob cared half as much as he claims he would only take snorkelers in water no less deeper then fifteen feet from the nearest coral colony instead of letting theme stand on theme. Just another case of closed eye ignorance not realizing the complete picture past there nose. Funny how this ban doesn't include tuna and Marlin ?? The most over fished species in Hawaii. Just my opinion tho.
Yeah, it's a mess of emotional propaganda instead of real science. I'm heading to Hawaii tomorrow so I'll see if I can find out anything new.
Have fun !! Got friends at the dive locker. Walk softly brother, this is a big issue on the island
