Just a few pics of what I've seen in the past couple days. Was fine since we got him like a week ago and then a couple days ago its mouth was steady open and not eating. Stayed that way but closed it a bit and now loss of flesh. Any thoughts? All my other brains n trachs are fine. This is the second brain that I bought new from reef empire that dies in less than a month from the same order. Bummed!! First night in my tank. 2days ago Today (just dipped him n now in a freshwater dip)
Sorry to see this. Did you feed it when you got it?
I think the freshwater dip would do more harm than good. CoralRx or Revive is a better bet. Although not sure it will help much now.
Yea I fed it when I got it and everytime I fed the coral. I had it for about two weeks. I'm new to dipping and did the iodine n fresh dip after. It's how I read to do it but I don't know much on dippin.

My theory on some of these corals (esp. LPS) is that they can be overfed. If they get too much or can't digest the food, I think it can start to rot them from the inside out. I have done it myself to a couple of them. I also think they should get settled in for awhile before trying to feed them basically for the same reason. I think if they are not fully acclimated or still slightly stressed from the move, that they don't necessarily digest as well...again causing coral "gut rot".
Again this is just my theory....and it might not even be the issue here.
Agree, coralrx is what i use and its a lot less harsh than iodine.
if i am not mistaken coralrx is actually more harsh that iodine but maybe someone else can chime in on that? i am not 100% sure i would have to look it up again but i remember reading coralrx was more harsh that iodine hence the reason coralrx removes more parasites etc... than iodine.

Yea. I hear you. As soon as the feeder tentacles were out I gave them food. Sucks. That was my first scoly and my girl bought it.
I had read that CoralRX is all natural ingredients that were designed to be less harsh than straight iodine. Lots of posts on ReefCentral about how Coral RX is great, kinda expensive but no where near as harsh. Ive dipped everything in it, and some corals even have stayed open for the whole 5 minute dip and every coral opens immediattely after. It does kill everything though, and almost immediately.
Iodine likely kills more corals than it saves. It can be very harsh.
