Default Painting inside tank?

On the subject of painting a tank; I'm putting together a new tank that will have a acrylic divider inside it, and it's been suggested that I paint the acrylic black. I'm a bit sceptical myself, but thought I would ask. Anybody have any experience or thoughts on this?

don't put paint on the inside of the tank. If you need the inside divider black, you need a black piece of acrylic.

All kinds of people use Krylon painted plumbing inside their tanks, the only problem would be it chipping off. But I would use the black acrylic.

why would you need the divider to be black instead of clear

The divider will create a sump area, and I would like to cut visibility into that area from the tank.

I have painted PVC (krylon) in my tank, only a few months old but no issues, for a divider though I would do black acrylic.

Over time the paint will wear off in spots. I had some plumbing painted black (my pvc return) in my old tank. It was only an elbow and an adapter, but it was worn off in spots over a couple years...I have no idea why or what wore it off. I don't think it is as much a livestock issue as it is aesthetics over time issue. I agree with others if you are building it and need a divider, I would go with black acrylic.
