Anyone out here running a skimmer on your nano tank? If so which one? How well stocked is your tank? If your not running one what is your WC schedule like?
i had a eshopps psk-75 on my 29g and it worked perfect, its a small in sump skimmer, fit perfect and worked perfect for me, i wrote them a fantastic review on it on here.
I run a bakpak on our nano from last year's nano contest. I rarely do water changes... I'm really bad about it.
I have a nac 3.5 cone skimmer that I will eventually swap out for the bak pak. It's apple and oranges between these two. The nac kicks some serious butt!
Yes. The point of a fuge is to make it an area where there is nothing to compete with the critters that you are trying to harbor. By putting a skimmer in there you are going to suck up some pods. But if you're OK with reduced pods in your fuge as a trade off for more filtration, then go for it.
Believe it or not the Amphipods are thriving in there. As for copods I'm seeing quit a few of those too. Both in fuge and DT
I have 2 identical 34G cube tanks. One has an aqua C remo hang on the back skimmer and my other cube is drilled with a 20G sump and Octopus skimmer rated for like 150G. Over the time ive noticed no difference in overall "better" water conditions for coral or fish. Both tanks are heavily stocked.. but not quite a "nano"... Just my experience...
