Well tonight I took a good look at my rock. Another reefer posted an id this algae and I've got/have had the same for quit some time. I now see where it's cropping up in several different areas
It's red, slippery an soft and slightly thick. Does not branch, more carpet like.
Yup. Looks like cyanobacteria. Water changes, phosphate removal, and ensuring I'm not feeding too much are my go to remedies for it. While not as fast as "treating" they are preferred as they treat the cause and not the symptom.
I'm positive it's not cyano. This stuff is firmly attached to the rock. No way can I displace it with a turkey baster.
I've read that it may be Red Turf Algae which thrives in high light, high flow areas and clean water conditions. Oh and my Mexican Turbo will eat it when I put him on the rock.
I was going to post something but I am sure you will just ignore it anyways so goodluck
WOW, that was informative, helpful, and mature.
i love to read posts like this that wastes everyones time and are uncalled for.
If I offended you, you needed it! ,<--- words taken from YOUR profile.
Thank you
@Flynnstone
! After months of looking finally others who've dealt with this stuff-lol.
I do have a Mexican Turbo but for what ever reason it simply refuses to go onto the rock, any rock! Hangs on everything else though-lol.
Our LFS has a Tuxedo Urchin I'm gonna give a try. Hoping they'll let me rent it I'll also be checking to see if they carry PhosGuard. My PO4 is at .02, not to bad but there all the same.
