Default On top of your tank.

I have a 55 gallon with a wooden canopy top. My issue is with directly on top of the tank i have plexy glass to keep evaporation down and away from my DIY led lights, and also keep fish from coming out of the water. The plexy was suppose to be a temporary fix but i haven't bothered looking into other options until now, when the glass has became misshaped and ineffective.

I was told that someone on here makes nice netting type tops for tanks and that evaporation is a fact of life, live with it. I was just curious what everyone else used for the top of their tanks? Also i feel like leaving the top unsealed would lead to my canopy becoming moldy. Anyone with canopy's have any input on the subject?
-Sorry, had my tank up for a little while now, but feeling very newb like still.
Any input is appreciated,
thanks,
Andrew
