Default What's with the neon green algea?

I have had a recent bloom of NEON green algea on the walls of my tank. It's kind of cool looking to be honest, but I am SICK and tired of cleaning it off. It pretty much covers the glass over the course of 2 days. My tangs and lawnmower blenny have been eating it like crazy. It's not hairy at all...just a layer of neon green...looks like someone spray painted it on. Any guesses as to what it is and why it's happening?

    Oh yeah....GO SEAHAWKS!!!!
...I think my fish just farted.

Powerlines...maybe that explains why my orange sholdered tang has, what appears to be, a small foot growing off it's forhead. Weird stuff....
