I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the eggs because they hatched in the bucket when transporting them home from work.

since hatching and moving them to the new tank the numbers have dwindled down to 8 fry. On Friday I did a water change and forgot to close the valve that let the new water into the tank over night. went to check on them in the early morning on Saturday and I found one in a different tank and two others were missing. I eventually found one that was mauled to death by 3 month old perculas in an adjacent tank I thought i lost them all over the last week but I found one still left last night. I am still having heating issues. the heater i was working with at first took a crap and heated the tank to 86 degrees, so i yanked it out and went back to the heater that kept it at 74. but due to the lower temperature the fry has taken 18 days to get to meta. it is now starting to swim like a normal clown using mor of its body to move rather than just the end of the tail. Can't wait to see some stripes on the little guy.

thanks Jamie. I went and pulled the pair out of the tank and gave them to my buddy BigBill. Upon pulling out all the rocks we found more eggs on the rock, so i will take those home and give them a second try. but i will get a new heater on the way home.

I forgot the eggs at the store!!
but my loving husband was kind enough to go get them and bring them home for me while I got our son into bed.
so the little singleton I have left from the first batch will be moved into an adjacent tank so I can raise his sibblings.

How is it that you move the eggs without harming them?

When i was researching on how to breed fish and take car of the eggs- I always read that you cannot expose the eggs to air- MYTH- why do you run air bubbles over them then?? you simplly grab the rock they are on take them out and put them into a bucket of water- put a lid on the bucket and off you go. once to the tank- slowly acclimate and put the rock i the new tank with an air bubbler over the eggs.

the little singleton has his stripes. head stripe- check, belly stripe- in the making.
