Default Adding sand to an existing system. What should I expect to happen?

I'd like to add 90lbs of sand to my existing 135g (total volume around 180g). Is there a way to add sand to a BB tank without starting another cycle?

The method (thanks Alex), will be a pvc pipe and a funnel to slowly pour in the sand directly to the bottom.
Thanks,
Tom
