    Default API test kits

The kits been sitting on the LFS shelf for who knows how long. Then you buy it. How does one gage the expiration date. Is it once they're opened? If so how long after opening do they last?

API- The last four digits on the bottle are the dates M/Y this is the manufacturing date and the tests are good for three years nitrite is good for four... According the manufacturer... I would only say about half that with API though.

Jaime if it makes you feel better I've tried them all. API gets a bad wrap but they test out perfectly every time. I can't say that about any of the others.

I've always gotten what I thought were good readings also. At least my tank says so, for one being so small. Thanks Rob.
